AED Training
Duration: 1 day – 7 hours
(up to 12 people per course)
Delegates completing AED training course will be able to;
- Assess an incident and explain rationale for checking for danger
- Demonstrate how to open an airway and check for breathing
- Demonstrate how to deal with an unconscious casualty
- Explain how to recognise a casualty who is not breathing normally
- Demonstrate how to perform CPR on a non breathing casualty
- Explain how the heart and AED works
- Describe how to check and maintain an AED machine
- List the checks to be made before using an AED
- Demonstrate the use and maintenance of an AED
- Demonstrate the use of an AED with CPR when alone
- Demonstrate the use of an AED with CPR when in a pair
- Understand basic life support requirements
- Be able to demonstrate basic life support techniques and automated external defibrillator use in
- line with current national guidelines
- Understand the safe use of an automated external defibrillator
- Be able to demonstrate post- resuscitation procedures
- Be able to carry out basic user maintenance and troubleshoot problems with an automated
- external defibrillator
- Understand the safe use of an automated external defibrillator
